How to Keep Your House Clean Without Spending a Lot of Green

Use Newspaper – You probably don’t want to use a rag to clean your windows and mirrors as this can leave them streaky. Newspaper, however, is a great, cheap alternative to paper towels. Then use a damp cloth afterward to clean off any leftover baking soda. It can be used on glass and some counter tops.

Don’t Recycle, Reuse

I don’t freeze food in the used bags, but do use them for leftovers in the frig. The leaders had us use vinegar and water along with newspaper to clean, dry and polish the windows. My Mother-in-law always washed hers out and dried them and then used them again. Two liter soda bottles. Popsicle sticks.

Plastic containers from sliced lunch meat are great for leftover vegetable or casserole servings. Old paper from things such as newspapers, magazines, discards from the printer and etc are used at our house to start fires, make notes and for grocery lists.
