Take advantage of your local library. If you are an avid reader like me, use your public library whenever possible. If the library doesn’t have your book in stock yet, have some patience. Instead of using your car and spending money on gas, why not invest in a good bicycle or walking shoes. Cook at home.

Find a fitness video series that you enjoy and rent from the library or purchase. Shopping the sale racks at your favorite store is always an option, but there are two ways to find even better deals on clothing. I only shop on Wednesdays, when the store has a 50% off everything sale. Keep it Simple. Crew, Gap, and Limited.

Cameras had to have actual film and pictures had to be developed after the whole roll of film was ‘exposed’ Research was done at a library using the Dewey decimal system, not a search engine. Food/shopping. People went downtown to do their big shopping. There were no shopping malls. Fast food was rare.

First, visit your local library for information and books about Italy. Next, hit up the local ice cream shop for some yummy Italian ice or gelato. Make a Tower of Pisa using recycled materials such as cereal boxes and shoes boxes. Visit the library and learn all you can about the beautiful land of Ireland!

Back when I was engaged and living on my own for the first time (I lived with my parents while in grad school to save on rent), I went to the library a lot and found a copy of the Tightwad Gazette. Eventually, when I was married and working at a library I ordered my own copy of the Complete Tightwad Gazette–and I still have it!
