Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. Garage sales take time, you have to hit quite a few before you find the item you want or need. If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. A wheel barrow – free.

Have a Virtual Yard Sale. I love yard sales, but it’s getting a little cold in the northeast to be hosting one outside. However, there’s always stuff to sell, like outgrown, but good clothing, shoes, toys, household goods, etc. Many stores will at least give you a store credit if you don’t have your receipt.

Thrift shopping is making a comeback and we are loving it! That being said, in-person thrift stores aren’t always ideal. Some may not have a good thrift shop in their community, while others may prefer the convenience of shopping online. Oftentimes, you can make more on the sale than your originally spent!

I got brand new clothes , a stroller, a playpen, toys, blankets, the list goes on and on. Many of the other items I needed like cloth diapers and clothes for the baby in bigger sizes I bought from garage sales. They did not have a large toy room with so many toys they don’t know what to play with.

Once baby comes, we might become major spenders on toys, a new home, a bigger car and more. As a young mom, I saved like mad – going to garage sales, thrift stores and accepting hand me downs on toys and clothing. The things that give us pleasure vary by temperament. Time of life.
