January 2021 was a month of extremes in my family’s finances. We think we’ll use the money towards summer vacation. We’re converting our basement to a family room area and the original family room (in the pic above) is becoming a home office. I put down half the money and financed the other half.

Financially speaking, he focuses on building the business and I focus on managing our home and finances. This side hustle income was mainly used for the fun stuff, such as camping, home renovations & repairs, and needs for our kids. In September 2001, we bought a 1700 square foot home with a one-car garage and ONE full bathroom.

I am a 40-something wife, mother, and small business owner who is passionate about my family, food, running, and our finances. I still use the same checking account that I opened up in 1986 when I was in high school. We’ll celebrate 13 years in our home this September and we’re not going anywhere. What a blast.
