I had to chuckle when I saw my training calendar from 2004, the year before our first daughter was born. I totally blew off my workout that day.

I remember, not that long ago (I graduated from college in 2004) that being in college is great but the cost is expensive. I remember I had spent $800 Dollars (that was the USD amount as they had converted it for me) and I didn’t have that money in my bank account. That is me talking to him in 2004 in London, England.

In 2004 when we were researching policies, we weren’t parents yet, but fully intended on having children. It really deserves a whole separate post and if today’s insurance environment was the same as 2004 I might explain further, but it’s not, so I’ll move on. How would we afford the have health insurance?

They were so unaffordable, we actually considered taking the tax penalty and going uninsured. We had high deductible health plans from 2004 – 2016 and contributed many years to a health savings account. We used those funds to pay for our medical bills in 2017 and that account is now depleted and closed.
