Buy In Bulk By eliminating all packaging of food supplies, we could substantially cut the amount of packaging trash we throw away each day. Shredded paper can be put in compost piles.

For example, most leftover food scraps can even be composted ( other than meat, of course ) so they can be brought home if a school or workplace doesn’t do composting. Of course, that’s only the financial savings. It’s crazy how much trash we generate even when there are easy solutions!

If you decide to buy in bulk as a way to save money, you can preserve some of that food for later. Pay attention to that when you buy. One solution is to buy things loose.

If you really want to send out paper invitations, use recycled or handmade paper and use a single sheet. Choose decorations that can be reused or that are made of natural materials and so can be recycled in the garden or compost. If you really need non-breakables, look for the clear polymer drinkware that is 100% recyclable.

We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. Buy one then sell, donate or exchange it. Don’t buy, make. Compost it by cutting it up and putting it on the pile. Like me, buy them used and then reuse them each year.
