Find a fitness video series that you enjoy and rent from the library or purchase. I am very particular about brands and quality, yet I regularly find new or gently worn name brand clothing, snow gear, shoes, household stuff, and books. I keep a list of needs with me so I’m not buying stuff we don’t need.

Find a free court, borrow or buy rackets and go play some tennis. Local towns, libraries, malls and fire halls also host carnivals and festivals as fundraisers. Sure you can buy ice cream, but this is a fun and delicious activity for the littles. Shoe rental is not included. Hit the tennis courts. Play miniature golf.

Back when I was engaged and living on my own for the first time (I lived with my parents while in grad school to save on rent), I went to the library a lot and found a copy of the Tightwad Gazette. Eventually, when I was married and working at a library I ordered my own copy of the Complete Tightwad Gazette–and I still have it!

Also, there are some things I know will go right away–On occasion my daughter talks me into buying clothes that are cute and fit well, but just don’t fit my life style. Those are going right out.
