In the fall, after first frost, I pick interesting looking grasses, with seed heads intact and bunch them into 4” wide 12 “ tall stand up decorations – just by tying a Christmas ribbon around them in the middle. Thrift stores are also a great place to shop. These make nice gifts too. Save On Gifts And Wrapping.

If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. But, find one in a high end neighborhood, one where the store sorts through the donations to select only the best. It will be an extra gift for my grandson’s family next Christmas. It is still in the shrink wrap. Books and DVDs.

It wasn’t all about me in November, I have a teenager and soon-to-be teenager and they both want clothes for Christmas. DSW might be my new favorite place to find shoes! stuff: $40.

On Christmas eve, gangs of kids caroled from house to house. Christmas was a one week event – between Dec 25 and Jan. Most city folks bought their tree at a lot, Christmas tree farms weren’t open to individuals. Hair cuts were done at home by a family member. Most food at the grocery store came from the USA.
