There have been countless times I have seen nearly new, decorator pieces being sold for pennies on the dollar at garage sales because the homeowner decided to re-decorate. Try re-arranging furniture and a deep cleaning instead. Add one or two small new-to-you items to make things seem different.

I have made a pact with myself that if I don’t already own something that I need, I will either: make do with what I have, find said item at a thrift store, borrow, or forget about it. Plus, it can be really inconvenient to “make do or do without!” I ended up freeze drying them in the garage! Man, you really have to plan ahead and be on top of things to make sure you can cover the baby’s rear with clean diaps in that situation! Do you have a funny story about making do?

I want to challenge myself to rethink our purchases by taking advantage of more cost effective solutions, like borrowing, buying second hand, or just making do with what we already have. I’d like 2018 to be the year that we clean out our clutter. Choose Thrift First. This is going to be a daily challenge for me.
