In January, I only ventured into Target because our daughters wanted to go and spend some of their Christmas gift money. Can I find what I need at a second hand or thrift store? I have found new or gently worn name brand clothing, snow gear, shoes, household stuff, and books. The Choose Thrift First Challenge.

But I also found success at a thrift store. At that time, I had not reviewed my own spring clothing and I have plenty of time to go back to Target if I can’t find something suitable (and cute) at the thrift store. Can I find what I need at a second hand or thrift store?

I made one trip to my favorite thrift store during their dollar days sale. I found a pair of blue jeans for myself for $3 and some clothes for my daughters for $1 a piece. With spring right around the corner, I’m now on the look out for “like new” spring clothing for all of us.

In 2015, the monthly challenge will be Choose Thrift First. While I love thrift stores, I can be easily swayed to run into Target or Kohl’s when I’m in that part of town. That’s motivation to take some time to scour Craigslist and some local second hand furniture stores this week.

April Update: I made 3 new purchases in April: I bought a pair of Teva flip flops from the clearance rack at DSW and two t-shirts at BJ’s Warehouse store. I need spring clothes and I always find the cutest name brand tops at BJ’s at decent low prices. Can I find what I need at a second hand or thrift store?

January will be one giant nightmare when the credit card bills start rolling in. We paid for many of our Christmas purchases on a credit card and then hustled in January 2013 to pay it off. I started donating plasma in January of 2021 and earned over $1000 in the first 3 months of the year. Hopefully, that’s your goal too.

On January 1st, I declared my word for 2014 to be DECLUTTER. I pulled out clothes that I don’t wear and I’ll donate to the thrift store. My kids had a fun time looking at the hair styles and clothing choices of their parents through the years. I reorganized my bedroom closet and dresser.
