Back when I was engaged and living on my own for the first time (I lived with my parents while in grad school to save on rent), I went to the library a lot and found a copy of the Tightwad Gazette. We rent now and are much happier. People are surprised that we are in our fifties and renting, but it works for us.

Here are some of my fave items: Magnetic car phone holder is a must for road trips or when renting a car. A portable Lighted Makeup Mirror is a must for those dark hotel rooms or when someone else is in the bathroom and you're trying to get ready. You're good clothes are separated and can be hung up in the bag when you arrive.

Makeup, jewelry, a fancy car, the latest tech, tchotchkes 9. Sewing holes in clothes, using up leftovers before they go bad, finding free activities for my little on the weekends, checking buy nothing or marketplace before purchasing- I am always just looking for ways to spend money.

My mom cut coupons and sewed her own clothes and mine, as well. When they got married, they bought a duplex so that the rent money from the tenant in the upstairs apartment would pay the mortgage. perfume nail polish makeup hair salons (our daughter’s a licensed cosmetologist and master barber!) But there are so many!

If we wanted extra money for something like school clothes or makeup, we were given a chore to earn it. Clothing and furniture are just a couple of the things you can buy on the Facebook marketplace , Craigslist , and OfferUp. For one-time projects, consider renting. It was rarely just handed out.
