I stopped by my two favorite thrift stores last week: Salvation Army & Community Aid, a local store. I only go on Wednesdays, because both stores offer an additional 50% off on almost everything. I cleaned out our closets a couple of weekends ago and I found that we are in need of some spring & summer clothes.

My sister-in-law buys dozens every Christmas from a mom who bakes for cash. My mom makes and sells Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls. However, there’s always stuff to sell, like outgrown, but good clothing, shoes, toys, household goods, etc. Many stores will at least give you a store credit if you don’t have your receipt.

Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. But, find one in a high end neighborhood, one where the store sorts through the donations to select only the best. Garage sales and thrift stores are great places to find books and DVDs.
