My Thursday dinner plan is now Clean out the Fridge Night! As you can see from a recent night, we had PLENTY of food for dinner. Homemade Roasted Tomato Sauce. I harvested Roma tomatoes from my one and only plant and made a big batch of my homemade roasted tomato sauce. My Frugal Shenanigans! FREE Shredding!

I take a collection of different types of beans and lentils, mix them nicely in a big bowl and then package them in pretty vintage or recycled jars. Sometimes I make homemade chile'/taco seasoning and put three tablespoons of it , along with a dry bay leaf, in a small cellophane bag. It's pretty simple, as you can see from the photos!

” I know that I can recycle the bags, but it seemed wasteful to me and I have to think about whether I’ll do the service again. This Week’s Dinners: Saturday: We went camping over the weekend. For dinner, we ate grilled chicken wraps stuffed with avocado, salsa, cheese, lettuce and pasta and fruit salads.

While reusing the bag that held your kind of squishy peanut butter and jelly sandwich might be more trouble than it’s worth, the bag that held a block of hard cheese could be used to store the half of the onion that you didn’t use with dinner. You can also rinse bags that aren’t very dirty and hang them upside down to dry.

Do you remember all those times she made you homemade chocolate chip cookies? If you think you can handle a 3-course French dinner, by all means put on an apron and aim for a meal deserving of a Michelin Star. She’s an earth mother fond of baking kale chips and reminding you to save energy, recycle and compost the banana peels.

I found these compartment plates at a yard sale for a couple of bucks and they are great for those times when you might grab paper plates, like picnics, patio dinners and small family gatherings. Sometimes reaching for disposable paper products seems easier, but it doesn't take much more effort to use products that are re-usable or recycled.

To save even more money, keep the decorations from each year and recycle them for the next child! Avoid serving a big meal: Having the party between meal times (let’s say, having a nice mid-afternoon party) means you don’t need to go crazy providing a large lunch or dinner! Finger foods and cake will do just fine in this situation.
