Back when I was engaged and living on my own for the first time (I lived with my parents while in grad school to save on rent), I went to the library a lot and found a copy of the Tightwad Gazette. Eventually, when I was married and working at a library I ordered my own copy of the Complete Tightwad Gazette–and I still have it!

We have significant food restrictions so sourcing our own is helpful health-wise & cost-effective too. Used bookstores, fair trade products, and locally sourced food/baskets/pottery are favorites, in addition to monthly outings with my kids. There’s always been garage sales/flea markets, library, state parks, fishing.

Offer these cooking lessons and send the food home with the recipient. What a delicious gift of food! Borrow a new(er) movie from the library or find a good movie on your cable/subscription account. Laundry Service or Use of Your Laundry Room. I keep a moderate stockpile of food and cleaning supplies.

Assign a budget category to each transaction, so you can add up what you spend on food, fuel, clothing, self-care, etc. Spend Frugal February planning your meals from food that you already have in your kitchen, refrigerator, and freezer. I also have a laundry room with enough cleaning products to last us a very long time.
