It all started in high school, when I graduated five months earlier than my peers so I could work full time and save up money before starting college. I worked full-time throughout college and took a few internships. One way that I’ve benefited immensely from this is in my career.

It’s also a great hobby to teach children, grandchildren, or students. Putting your hands in the dirt and nurturing different plants to grow in different environments fulfills a primal instinct that goes beyond just filling your time. The activities involved are countless and can be adapted to just about any setting.

While these take somewhat longer to complete, classes are usually scheduled for weekends or evenings, allowing students to continue working, earning a living, and advancing their careers in other ways. Online programs also have the added benefit of being fairly green, since there’s no need for lots of extra commuting to campus.

By now you should know where you plan to attend school in the fall, but do you know whether or not actual for real employers will come to that campus to recruit students getting a degree in your chosen area? Time to find out. Look especially for on campus recruiting and online job portals the college may offer to help place students.

The same kind of over thinking tends to infect financial advice, as well, especially when it’s doled out to college students who are desperate to come up with ways to make a few extra bucks between studying for exams and balancing their social lives. Eat right and exercise, and you’ll be fine. Happily, that’s not the case.

I haven't tried that hard to grow this blog because I have it more as a diary than a source of income. Full disclosure: I have not made a penny off this blog, ever! The biggest changes have to be my decision to become a full time college student. Another big change was my family's eating habits.

Before this August, every long weekend, holiday and minute of spare time, I spent bent over homework, in group meetings, and writing exams, midterms, and term papers. Such is the life of a student.
