My Story on How to Successfully Take Courses While Working Full Time

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

One of the things many of you may or may not know about me is that my entire university education has been acquired while working full time. When I was allotted TV time, I didn’t use it to watch the standard children’s shows. I guess part of it came naturally as both my mother and grandmother worked in the medical field at the time. When you are 18, two years seems like a life time. Assess Your Time.

Meet a Reader | Cindy B.

The Frugal Girl

We are meeting reader Cindy today; she and her husband are full-time RVers. I wonder if there’s a larger proportion of RVers in the frugal community because even though full-time RVers are a minority, Cindy is the second featured Frugal Girl reader who lives in an RV full time!

Meet a Frugal Girl Reader | Sarah, an RVer

The Frugal Girl

Reader Sarah is a full-time RVer, and she wrote to me asking if I’d like to feature her in a Monday post, since RVing is a slightly unusual way of life. My husband and I retired 2 years ago and decided to become full-time RV-ers.

I am not certain, but I think I started reading The Frugal Girl about the same time I started my blog (2014). I blog when I have time or want to, but I keep reading TFG faithfully. I had been stranded multiple times, both in the middle of nowhere and on the side of busy interstates.

Diversify Side Income Or Specialize?

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

I can’t think of a time in my adult life when I haven’t been fully immersed in a full-time job or career, while also making income on the side. My first side hustle was a part-time job at the local mall where I held my full-time day job. A couple of years ago, I took a part-time, 30 hour per week job to get my foot in the door at the company I currently work for.

Advance Your Career By Taking the Road Less Travelled

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

It all started in high school, when I graduated five months earlier than my peers so I could work full time and save up money before starting college. I worked full-time throughout college and took a few internships. I graduated early, worked full time during college, took low paying internships and made myself incredibly uncomfortable by taking the crap projects in the crap communities that nobody wanted to work on or go to.

How to Save Electricity While You’re Working at Home

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

labour force now work from home full-time! Cut Down Screen Time. Perhaps the best way to save electricity is to cut down “on-screen time” when you’re not actually working. Since you don’t have office distractions at home, try finding a way where you can complete the work early and not waste time on social media or web surfing. If you make a habit out of removing temptations, you’ll spend less time working and expend less on work-related expenses.

5 Reasons Why You Should Blog Even If You Don’t Make Money From It

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

I am in awe of those who make a full-time living from their blogs and even have to higher assistants so they don’t have to work 80 hours a week themselves keeping their blogs running. Therefore, in a secondary way, my blog has helped me generate a part-time income every month to supplement my husband’s full-time income. I admit to being slightly envious of those who make a good income from their blogs.

Family Balance Sheet

My husband is an extremely hard worker as he works and goes to school full time. So we decided to sell our home and become renters for the first time. Factors to Consider When Accepting a Job

However, based on what I needed at the time, that just wasn’t enough. The social work position was full-time and offered health and dental insurance. I would have the position for 3 months and then, if they liked me, they would hire me on full-time. All told, there were 20 paid holidays per year in addition to 3 weeks of vacation time and the ability to earn comp time. That’s a lot of time off.

What Should I Look for in a Business School?

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

And the traditional method does have its upsides—networking is far easier when you’re in a classroom with all of the same people, and you’ll be able to dedicate your full effort to learning. For those who can’t afford to drop everything, however, a part-time degree program might be a better fit. Seeking out a traditional or part-time program may leave you with limited options, especially if you aren’t interested in moving.

Easy Ways to Build Up Your Savings

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

As the time passed, I was able to figure out ways to save more money and stay on top of my finances. Extra income for me meant anything that I earned above and beyond my full-time office job, from things like freelancing. I made it a habit to transfer the amount of my extra income into my account just for that purpose every single time I was paid, and I never missed it. A surprising amount of North Americans are not putting money away consistently for retirement.

Expect More from Your Daughters

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

“ Did you know that in 2014, women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 79 percent of what men were paid, a gap of 21 percent?” At the same time, we have to establish different expectations on the home front for our sons and grandsons. At the same time, we should have higher expectations from our sons on the home front. Why wouldn’t men want to spend more time with their kids?

When Should Your Teenager Get a Job?

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

Many families can’t afford to have their kids in all of the sports and activities that they want to be involved in, while still dressing and feeding their growing teens and usually a house full of their friends as well. Time is a factor in high school, because teenagers will be in school all day. It’s like having a full-time job. If they are in dozens of activities that are important to them as well, there may not even be time for a job.

Inefficiencies in Homes to Look For as a First Time Home Buyer

We bought our house almost a year ago, and moved in shortly thereafter.
