She also scarfed up any other gift wrap that looked usable, and she stored it carefully away for use the next year. While I am not that thrifty, and I love prettily wrapped gifts, I don’t like to spend a bunch on wrappings. Christmas cards are becoming a forgotten tradition, but we still get and give some. For many, the end of the year holiday shopping frenzy can override our saner, more thrifty selves. Spending our precious and all too limited time searching online and in stores. That should give me enough time to figure out what kind of camera I really need! We get desperate to find gifts for everyone on the list. I know I do.

Here is a short list of some of my favorite finds at garage, estate and thrift store sales. I’ll keep it until the grand-kids outgrow it and then try to sell it for the same amount. Kid’s scooter – $1. Once the package is open, the kids don’t care if the cars are new – just if they work.

However, we could use a year of extra thriftiness to find any extra funds to accelerate the $10k. While I love thrift stores, I can be easily swayed to run into Target, TJ Maxx, and/or Kohl’s when I feel like I need something. However, there are a few things that we will not give up so I will need to include them in our budget.
