I checked some local furniture stores to check the prices of new dressers. While I LOVE to shop at thrift stores, the thought of going to a stranger’s home was a bit scary to me– a former 24/7 news junkie. Next stop was my favorite thrift store where everything is 50% off on Wednesdays.

She also scarfed up any other gift wrap that looked usable, and she stored it carefully away for use the next year. While I am not that thrifty, and I love prettily wrapped gifts, I don’t like to spend a bunch on wrappings. Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Use paper drop cloth to wrap.

I stopped by my two favorite thrift stores last week: Salvation Army & Community Aid, a local store. I only go on Wednesdays, because both stores offer an additional 50% off on almost everything. Finally, spring has arrived in central PA, so I carved out some time last Wednesday to hit the thrift stores.

The icing on the cake was when I was leaving Maine on my way home to Boston, I stopped at this awesome thrift store right before I got to the highway in York. I was so excited when I left the store, I could hardly contain myself. Then I come home and there is a package waiting for me from Target. Whoo Hoo!!

Instead, you may want to check out thrift stores or buy classic, high-quality items that will last longer. Or, instead of dining out every night, you may opt to cook at home more often. On top of that, only use the money for something that will increase in value over time (like a home or investment). Invest in yourself.

Are you paying too much for home/auto insurance, cable, internet? 4 – Skip the AM drive thru and eat breakfast at home. If you find yourself hitting the drive thru on your way to work, start making your breakfast and brewing your coffee at home. 6 – Eat dinner at home. 5 – Brown bag your lunch.
