I have a grandmother who would never dream of buying containers to store leftovers or food for the freezer. I use recycled jars to store baking goods (those blue Ball jars were a yard sale find), leftovers, matches, Q-tips, cotton balls, and office supplies. Thanks for reading. It seemed a bit wasteful.

For example, most leftover food scraps can even be composted ( other than meat, of course ) so they can be brought home if a school or workplace doesn’t do composting. The planet ( and your wallet ) will thank you! Multiply that by million of kids (and adults going to work) and you can see how much of a problem this is.

Instead of using aluminum foil or plastic wrap to cover casseroles and leftovers, store the food in re-usable containers.
