I have used the extra money to pay off debt, fund family trips, or build up our Christmas savings. Through May of 2021, I have found over $6800 for the year! My total found money in May: $321.81. Ok, so May wasn’t my greatest month for finding extra money. This money was put into my Christmas Savings account.

In April, we received a small tax refund and I put $100 of our refund into our Christmas Savings account. How did I do in May? I made enough to put $50 in our Christmas Savings account. Take the time to learn any requisite skills, either by reading, learning online or perhaps attending some of the home improvement big box store presentations and skill shops. Understand what parts of the job may require code inspections and what the codes mean. Talk to people you know to find who they may have used for their work.

Set up a high-interest savings account and be methodical about regularly contributing. Learning to make sacrifices early on and creating long-term saving habits can make a big difference on how long you are able to stay home with your new baby. Goodwill and thrift stores offer great prices on new and gently used items.
