These days most grocery stores no longer offer paper sacks, and if you have forgotten your reusable bags, you are probably going to go home with anywhere from one to two dozen little plastic sacks. You can often find these bags at your local grocery store for 99 cents or a dollar or two. Buy a bunch—really you can never have too many.

You might uncover some garments that have seen better days and should probably have been recycled some time ago. Anything you now longer want that is still wearable and in reasonable condition can be donated to thrift stores. You probably will find clothes that you had forgotten you even had; I certainly did!

In many localities, it’s possible to find stores that allow you to bring your own packaging. You won’t need to make as many trips to the store if you make it a point to maintain what you already have. Turn old towels into bags that can be taken to the grocery store. Pay attention to that when you buy.

Thrift shopping is making a comeback and we are loving it! That being said, in-person thrift stores aren’t always ideal. Some may not have a good thrift shop in their community, while others may prefer the convenience of shopping online. Poshmark bills itself “the largest social marketplace for fashion.”

We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. What do you do to recycle/reuse on Halloween? No kids = no parties or haunted houses = money saved. Buy one then sell, donate or exchange it.

Since fast fashion is so prominent and stores like Zara and H&M are everywhere, we tend to buy so much, since it’s so cheap! Bring them to your local thrift store, or a store like H&M that recycles clothing! When you love fashion and clothing as much as I do, it’s very easy to become a clothing hoarder.
