Did you make 2018 financial goals ? My husband and I discussed some ideas over our holiday break and we decided on 2 solid must-achieve financial goals for the year. If we complete them early, we’ll move on to 2 additional goals that are on our radar. The Guidelines for 2018: 1. Plan our Spending.

In previous years, I would create a long list of financial goals, only to have little accomplished by the end of the December. I almost stopped writing goals down altogether. In 2018, we decided to focus on just 2 main financial goals and before I share my 2019 goals I thought I would give you a recap on 2018.

Last year, to make a little extra cash, I started boarding dogs through Rover, and I am about to start a very very part time job using my RN license for a home care company. I think I started reading FG regularly in 2018 or 2019. My husband and I bought our first home in 2013 when interest rates and housing prices were pretty low.

Unfortunately, we did not hit that goal and in part, have made some major changes to our Debt Freedom Plan. Where our mortgage enters the equation: We bought our modest home in September 2001, before home prices soared and inevitably, tanked. The student loan should be paid off by the end of 2018. Our goal is still debt freedom.

Last summer, I hired someone to completely dismantle and remove my largest box garden and ground garden, and plant grass seed for me at a very reasonable price, especially since it took him just a few hours and it would have taken me an entire weekend. I kept my small box garden which is large enough for just 2 tomato plants and a few herbs.
