Did you make 2023 financial goals ? We decided on one big audacious financial goal for the year, and it’s a doozy! The last time we wrote numbers-driven financial goals was 2019. That was the year that we made the goal of paying off the last of our non-mortgage debts and we achieved it by September of that year.

A lot of life happened over 7 years and our plan changed slightly, but our goal remains to achieve complete freedom from debt. Our 2019 Financial Goal. We can now move on to other financial goals. But 2019 was different. By the end of 2019, we nailed one major bullet point and I was on cloud nine. Read: A 2019 Recap. However, 2019 was the first year that I found a word that I could stand by. I adored my word and everything about what I was trying to achieve for 2019. By the end of 2019, I achieved one major bullet point and the others will continue to be a work in progress. ALSO our 2019 Financial Goal!). I still eat sweets.

Something happens mentally when you WRITE down your goals and plans for execution. Number 4 was knocked out in 2019. We sent our very last payment to my husband’s student loan in September 2019, the same month I turned 50. Update: DONE Sept 2019!! DONE November 2019. Start college funds for our two girls.

When that loan was paid off, we put that full monthly amount towards the third loan and this continued until September 2019 when we made our last non-mortgage loan payment. We methodically worked through our plan and in September 2019 we were treated with the ultimate reward for our hard work– freedom from our non-mortgage debts!

Did you make 2018 financial goals ? My husband and I discussed some ideas over our holiday break and we decided on 2 solid must-achieve financial goals for the year. If we complete them early, we’ll move on to 2 additional goals that are on our radar. Our 2 Main Financial Goals for 2018: 1 – Finish the will.
