How Long Should You Keep Financial Documents

Keep the quarterly statements for your 401k or other IRA accounts until you receive the annual statement. Insurance - sub-files would be Auto, Health, Home-Owners, Life, etc. Keep records permanently for nondeductible contributions to an IRA to prove that you already paid taxes on this money when it is time to withdrawal.
