I got tired of being left at home because I had a day job, so now we get to travel together and create our own adventures. He leaves most of the financial goals up to me, but we make the decisions together. On the flip side, I ate a lot of cheap food while I was paying off debt, and definitely don’t do that now.

What are your top 3 – 5 tips for saving money/pinching pennies to put towards paying off your debt. We ate at home a lot and watched our food budget carefully. We definitely spend a lot more money on eating out at restaurants and using babysitters now that we are debt free. What are your financial goals now?

I’m a former 3rd grade teacher, but now a stay at home mom and a graphic designer of Joyful Art Designs. We made sure we could afford the monthly payments on a 15 year mortgage, with the mindset that we would pay more each month. What inspired you to get debt free? There were two things that inspired us to pay off debt.

I am a stay at home mom to 3 kiddos and a cockapoo named Otis. We live a pretty busy lives and when given free weekends at home we love spending time at home on our little farm. How much debt did you pay off? What kind of debt was it? Total, we paid off $175K in 2 years!! 130K in mortgage debt.

Take the time to enjoy a good book (on loan from the library) or go for a hike or bake a meal at home from scratch. How did you celebrate when you became debt free? For me, becoming debt free was really just the first step in a longer plan. Was there something that you gave up that you will go back to now that you are debt free?
