You can read the previous posts on my progress here , but here’s a recap of the variety of ways I’ve found the money since February: In February, I received a check from Ebates for $40.92. This is money I earned from my Christmas shopping last year, so it’s appropriate that I apply it to my Christmas savings.

On with the August meeting. How did I do in August? Our monthly goal for Christmas savings is $100. At the beginning of August, I was $100 short from June when we used some of our Christmas savings for gifts that were needed that month. To achieve this, I attempted a pantry challenge in August.

How Did We Do in July & August? I planned my menus, but I took my eye off the dollar amount and ended up needing to shift some money from other categories to pay for groceries. We have some upcoming expenses that will be taking a bite out of our savings accounts this fall, so I will be more committed with our grocery budget.

If you’ve been following along since January 25, 2019, we’ve been working all year to set aside money each month to have a cash Christmas. My monthly savings goal was $100. However by late summer, I found it easier to set aside the money directly from our budget. In November, I found the money within our budget.

I was able to transfer the $100 to our savings account in July, but I''m still short from June when I needed to use some of the savings for other gifts that we needed to buy last month. To make up for the shortfall, I''ve decided to do a pantry challenge in August. August Assignments: 1. What''s a pantry challenge?
