How did you get interested in saving money? As an adult, I can see it was likely a mixture of not enough income, high cost of living area, mismanagement of money, and kids just being expensive for single mothers particularly. What’s the “why” behind your money-saving efforts? Out of necessity originally.

I’ve been an architect, day-care teacher to toddlers, and library clerk, but am currently a SAHM to a 14yo son and 9yo daughter. How did you get interested in saving money? At age 12, I started saving up my allowance and babysitting money to buy Christmas gifts for other children who were less fortunate.

I’m a long-distance cyclist, a triathlete, a wife, a mother of two, a sister, a daughter, a friend, DIY-er, and a community member! Sunrise with my daughter at Lake Michigan Our son is now 15, and about 25 hours into his private pilot’s license, which he’s funding by earning money working for my father-in-law.

How did you get interested in saving money? Back when I was engaged and living on my own for the first time (I lived with my parents while in grad school to save on rent), I went to the library a lot and found a copy of the Tightwad Gazette. What’s the “why” behind your money-saving efforts? Maybe four years?

Our daughter is 24 and was adopted from Eastern Europe when she was one week short of a year old. He married the love of his life almost two years ago, so now we have a daughter-in-law, too. Box are some of my favorite authors) and I use the library to borrow both regular books and electronic resources.

If you get a chance, find this book at your library and read it, especially chapter 17. My new mission was to manage our money to make sure we used it wisely and stretched it as far as possible. Money and marriage are a joint responsibility between the two spouses (at least in our home). Treat the position like a job.

My eighteen-month-old daughter would watch early morning kids TV and then we would sit and read several books together while I ate dry crackers to ease the nausea. We joined the local library when my second child was born to give an extra dimension to life for my daughter, who was not yet two. My husband left at 5.30
