Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle.

Today, I am going to share with you 8 ways you can recycle, reduce, and reuse. Concentrated products often require less packaging, resulting in less energy to transport it to the store and less plastic to recycle. Reuse what you can. We also save containers from items and reuse them for storage at a later time.

You can even save a few plastic grocery bags and reuse them at your local farmer’s market or grocery store. Clothing Bags If you donate clothing to your local thrift stores , then these bags can help you out. Recycle If none of these circumstances apply to you, you can always recycle your grocery bags.

Both TOMS shoes and Warby Parker are but just two of those companies, but I wanted to focus on them for a singular reason: they both donate an item for each item you buy from them. Warby Parker runs a program similar to TOMS in that for each pair of glasses that are purchased, a pair gets donated to someone who needs it. TOMS Shoes.

We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. Buy one then sell, donate or exchange it. Like me, buy them used and then reuse them each year. Put your unwanted Halloween decorations out for reuse by donating them.
