Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle. Today, I am going to share with you 8 ways you can recycle, reduce, and reuse. Reuse what you can. We also save containers from items and reuse them for storage at a later time. Reuse scrap paper and envelopes. Save and reuse ribbons, tissue paper, gift boxes amd even wrapping paper. Buy in bulk or in loose.

Both TOMS shoes and Warby Parker are but just two of those companies, but I wanted to focus on them for a singular reason: they both donate an item for each item you buy from them. Warby Parker runs a program similar to TOMS in that for each pair of glasses that are purchased, a pair gets donated to someone who needs it. TOMS Shoes.

It’s been around forever in one form another, whether back when your grandmother reused glass bottles for canning or in 2014 when a truck comes around to pick up all those empty soda cans you put out at the end of your driveway. Just Google “donate my car” and find a company near you. Ah, recycling. Eyeglasses. Sports Equipment.

I like to reuse them for lunches/snacks. I donated the pop-tarts to a food pantry and I’ll save the apple pie for Thanksgiving. Plasma donation: $47. The line has been really long, but one Saturday morning, my husband called from the donation center telling me that no one was there, so I ran over and made a quick $47.

We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. Buy one then sell, donate or exchange it. Like me, buy them used and then reuse them each year. Put your unwanted Halloween decorations out for reuse by donating them.
