How much debt did you pay off? What kind of debt was it? All of our debt was $97,000 in student loan debt. We ended up buying a house from a relative, which put us in even more debt. We save and try to manage our finances, but do so with an openness to give money away as well.

However, if you pay off these debts, there will be nothing left for investments in these tough financial times. You are one emergency short of losing track of your finances.
