When the weather is nice, we love to find outdoor spaces to explore. We rented at first, but the rental situation in our new town was poor. While we were still renting an apartment, I researched areas with lower property taxes, scouted out my ideal neighborhoods, and waited for a smaller, less expensive house to come on the market.

Our small business was going well, so we said so long to renting office space and purchased a commercial property in the summer of 2012. Also to top it off, I had a huge property tax due that month for our office building that was going to be difficult to pay for in light of the circumstances. Yep, life was good.

When they got married, they bought a duplex so that the rent money from the tenant in the upstairs apartment would pay the mortgage. Many people don’t have the mentors I had in my parents, and they find themselves in financial trouble as adults simply due to a lack of knowledge.
