Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle. Plastic trash bags.

These days most grocery stores no longer offer paper sacks, and if you have forgotten your reusable bags, you are probably going to go home with anywhere from one to two dozen little plastic sacks. You can even save a few plastic grocery bags and reuse them at your local farmer’s market or grocery store.

Because I love eating at food trucks, but I hate plastic utensils.and there's never anyplace to recycle them (if they even are recyclable). There's also the fact that sometimes those plastic forks and knives are just not sturdy enough for the food you're eating. Eat at food carts Another way to save on meals is to eat at food carts.

We share our home with a 70lb rescued mutt. After I had kids, I swapped that time to growing all sorts of interesting heirloom foods in my backyard. Besides dealing with my sudden unemployment when my oldest child was a toddler, I was hoping to figure out a way to extend my time at home with him. Enjoying some outdoor time.

Home decor, costumes for the kiddies (and adults!), Once the kids left home, we ended up with zero trick or treaters at our house on a state highway. We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. What do you do to recycle/reuse on Halloween?
