Are the schools good enough for your kids? Are the taxes too high for the services you get? Will the taxes be higher? I wanted a place for our family to gather – adult children and grandchildren along with us. I also wanted a bit more diversification in our portfolio and figured an additional piece of real estate could help that. The tax code for second homes used as rental properties is incredibly complex here in the US.

According to the July 15, 2010 Back to School Survey from the National Retail Federation, the average family spent around $600 per child for back to school needs, split between clothing (37%); electronics (30%); shoes (17%) and school supplies (16%). In our neighborhood folks buy really nice name brand clothing for their kids.
