We bought a house in 2012; we both have fulfilling careers and we have two little dogs that we consider fur babies. My financial goal is to save up enough to travel extensively (such as an around-the-world trip or maybe volunteering abroad for a longer period of time). My fiancé and I are getting married in less than two months.

Our emergency fund. I am totally paraphrasing the year, but had it not been for the money in our emergency savings, we would most likely have used credit cards to survive. We reduced our spending where we could, but the money to pay any shortfall each month came from our emergency fund. Yep, life was good.

I have written often about the importance of an emergency fund. Finances after the Pandemic: We went through a rough time back in 2012/2013 and we wrote our Debt Freedom Plan as a result of it. We have an emergency fund, but after this crisis, we will likely need to replenish it and increase the amount that we keep.
