We reduced our spending where we could, but the money to pay any shortfall each month came from our emergency fund. It kept me up at night.

Our Big Financial Goal for 2016

2016 will be THE year. That was the month I didn’t know if we had enough funds to cover our expenses. Guidelines for 2016: 1. We have some home projects that we need to do and we have already set aside the funds. We will cut back, but it is unrealistic for me to say we won’t eat out at all this year.

As I reflect back to January 2016, I started that year pretty determined to pay off the balance of our non-mortgage debts. And we were on a roll in January 2016. We had quite a bit of momentum coming out of 2015 and I never doubted our own abilities. Oh, and I turned 47 and my husband turned 55 in 2016.
