It was effective on January 1, 2017 and to be honest, I didn’t think I would have much to say about it through out the year. Everything changed very suddenly on Saturday, June 25, 2017 when one of my children started complaining. Save $10k in a savings account, specifically earmarked for medical expenses. Medi-Share Recap of our First Year (2017). I have yet to write a Medi-Share recap for 2018, but our goal was to replenish the healthcare savings account that we depleted in 2017. Our 2018 Financial Goals: Finish our Will.

We did take advantage of one benefit of a high deductible health plan: a Health Savings Account. A Health Savings Account (HSA) is for individuals who are covered under high-deductible health plans (HDHPs) to save for medical expenses that HDHPs do not cover.

Maybe even use to start up a 2017 holiday savings account. Last year, I accumulated over $400 cash back from my holiday shopping. I use it to treat myself, but you can use it however you wish. Or pay off the credit cards you may have used over the holidays. It doesn’t matter how you use it, just use it.

However, on November 1, 2016, we logged on to healthcare.gov to renew for 2017 and found premiums had doubled and the options were limited. We started using it in January 2017 and I wrote all about it, so I won’t rehash it all here. My First Update to Medi-Share – Written in September 2017.

2016 & 2017 Update. Start Additional Savings Accounts. We have several things that we want to start saving for, such as a car replacement fund, some home repairs/updates, a new camper, and travel.
