Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle.

There are simple ways to cut down on waste, from buying concentrated household products to buying in bulk. Today, I am going to share with you 8 ways you can recycle, reduce, and reuse. Buy in bulk or in loose. Reuse what you can. We also save containers from items and reuse them for storage at a later time.

Buy a bunch—really you can never have too many. You can even save a few plastic grocery bags and reuse them at your local farmer’s market or grocery store. The only drawback to using grocery bags is that they are not insulated, so if you need to keep something cold, they are not going to work.

Whether you are just starting out; wanting to freshen up your own older items; or furnishing a second home, furniture buying can make a big dent in your budget. However, there are ways to safely and beautifully reuse/restore items such as beds, sofas, chairs and decorative pillows. I used a shop vac, but any powerful vacuum would work.

Be more “ Eco-Friendly ” by picking up one of our 100% recycled-plastic doo-dads! They have assembled teams of charlatans with the goal of tricking you into buying products you don’t need just because the product is “green” – and they are very good at their jobs. Yes, we can buy more eco-friendly products when we need them.

Chances are that at least some of the time you bring your own bagged lunch to work or to school. And when I think back to when I worked in the corporate world, I remember how much money I spent going out until I switched to bringing my own lunch from home! Just stop using disposables. Washable plates and bowls.
