Summer and Spring Cycling Cycling is a great way to get both cardio and a leg workout. If you are swimming in a lake or the ocean, it’s completely free. Hiking is usually completely free, can be a social activity if you do it with friends, and it’s environmentally friendly! Around here, it costs only $3.50

I run the “clean” cycle on my oven, clean the lint out of the various hiding places on my dryer, and ensure my washing machine is build-up free. Maybe you were painting a wall or installing some shelving; doing these things during the winter will hep free up your time to do outdoor activities and projects in the spring.

I enjoy blogging and biking, and I usually cycle between 15 and 20 miles a day indoors when I’m not getting out to hit a bike trail. Part of the appeal of the area in which we live is that there are plenty of inexpensive opportunities for outdoor recreation. Yup, I’m a voracious reader. When we bought our first home , we knew we would eventually try to move up to a better neighborhood so we only did DIY inexpensive or absolute necessity projects to the house. If it couldn’t be done for free, we didn’t do it or did it very, very seldom. Plus we payed off the balance every cycle.” That took forever!

Microorganisms are responsible for changing the compost into useable nourishment for the soil, which supplies a new generation of plants, which feed animals, which feed other animals…you get the idea–it’s the cycle of life, and it all begins by making use of otherwise useless material. Also, check to see if your state has tax free shopping days for Energy Star appliances. Normally these require one and a half dryer cycles to dry. Drying racks are also fairly inexpensive. You don’t need to run out and buy all new appliances. Replace them as you can. This can help you save a little more.
