And the first item on the list was a new dresser for our younger daughter. While I LOVE to shop at thrift stores, the thought of going to a stranger’s home was a bit scary to me– a former 24/7 news junkie. My daughter is pretty pleased with her new dresser. While I am not that thrifty, and I love prettily wrapped gifts, I don’t like to spend a bunch on wrappings. My 5 year old grand daughter did it last year in my Grandma Rie’s Money Camp. Use them to package your home made Christmas cookies and candies. Use paper drop cloth to wrap. This You Tube video shows you how.

My oldest daughter has grown out of everything, thankfully, I can pass them on to my younger daughter, so at least she is set for spring and summer. By far the best find of the day was the pair of Keen shoes (in the above picture) for my oldest daughter. Do used shoes gross you out? These shoes retail for $49.95. No THANK YOU!

I remember thinking about how wonderful it would be to not have to worry about whether we had enough to pay for the propane gas to heat our home. Being thrifty stays an ingrained habit. In doing so, many become adept at thriftiness. I watched the rich people around and on TV, wondering if I would be like them if I were wealthy.

I have a love/hate relationship with my home office space. Around the time our second daughter was born, I found myself so overwhelmed and distracted that I missed paying the rent for our business office. I broke down my responsibilities: business office, home office, and projects. Bills to review: home owners insurance.

Home owners get bored and re-decorate or re-vamp their homes. I can park my car and walk from sale to sale, getting a bit of exercise, enjoying the fine weather and seeing the architecture and landscaping of the homes along the way. I didn’t have to do a thing to these pieces except get them home and hose them off.
