A good part of our monthly income is spent on grocery shopping, and the budget may even go higher depending on whether it’s a holiday or a birthday where you need to feed more people. If there is a non-perishable item on sale, pick it up if you use it often even if don’t need it right away. Eating out harms you in two ways.

We plan on participating in our neighborhood''s yard sale next month to raise our vacation funds. We told our daughters that they could set up a lemonade stand at the yard sale to earn their spending money. Maybe you don’t want to cook at all during your vacation or maybe eating out for every meal is beyond what your budget can handle.

For the clothes and shoes for my kids, I look for sales. I shop at the end of the season. I stocked up on several sizes for the next 2-3 years… for my daughter, last Sept, Crazy 8 had a coupon and a sale on summer clothes. I wait for the good sale. When I don’t plan, I make multiple trips to the store, eat out too often, and most certainly blow our budget. Personally, I plan a weekly menu that’s centered around what’s already in my pantry and freezer, what’s on sale and my family’s schedule. 40 oz (loss leader sale) =.049/oz, Thaw as needed.
