There are many small simple changes we can make in our daily activities that have a huge impact on the planet. You can make your own or your can buy them for cheap. Choose detergents that are plant based, concentrated, and biodegradable. We make our own using a few simple ingredients of washing soda , soap flakes, and borax.

The weather this past weekend was gorgeous, so I took advantage of it and finally planted my vegetable and herb garden. I planted 3 Roma tomatoes, 1 grape tomato, 1 sweet pepper, 1 jalapeno, carrots, green beans, and many herbs. I also bought butternut squash to plant on my vertical trellis along with a cantaloupe.

As I begin to clear out the garden, I am making notes for next year. This year, we replaced the dirt in my square foot garden , built a vertical trellis , planted perennials around our patio, and a slew of smaller projects. I planted impatiens through out the flower beds this year to add some continuous color.

Doesn't mulching make a world of difference? I also need to figure out what we are going to plant under our bay window. We have planted several things there and they have not survived. I have perennials planted all the way around the edge of the patio. I''m hoping the new plant will be something that they hate this year. And it''s one plant the bunnies don''t touch. My herb & vegetable garden boxes are off to the side of the house and I have more new perennials planted right along the house.

I planted 4 squares worth in my square foot garden and we have had them twice for dinner so far. I just put 5 cups in my freezer and many young beans are still on the plants. I wasn't always a huge fan of green beans. This is optional, but it makes it easier to pull out smaller portions of the beans. Thanks for reading.
