Here is a short list of some of my favorite finds at garage, estate and thrift store sales. I used an old seat cushion I had and wrapped it with brand new material from another garage sale to pretty it up and make it softer, then stacked new throw pillows I found at yet another sale for $.50 My ribbon however came from a garage sale.

My 3 year old already has a tricycle, but the girls and I were intrigued to see if this one was functional or broken. I'm so proud of that girl and I explained that I will go back to tell them when they were home. We'll eventually pass it on to another neighbor who is having a baby girl in July.

The idea for the Cardboard Christmas Tree using recycled packing boxes was in the latest issue of Disney Family Fun Magazine and it caught my eye because of the pileup in my garage. Cutting through the cardboard would have been too difficult for my 6 and 3 year olds, but the girls had fun painting and decorating their trees.

We tear down big boxes and lay them on the garage floor in case of oil leaks. Once we used old magazines for a craft project in Camp Fire Girls to make a ‘sit upon’ (cover the magazine with something water repellent and sew the sides together). Decorated bags (such as those you put gifts in) are just reused for gift giving.
