Did you make 2023 financial goals ? We decided on one big audacious financial goal for the year, and it’s a doozy! The last time we wrote numbers-driven financial goals was 2019. That was the year that we made the goal of paying off the last of our non-mortgage debts and we achieved it by September of that year.

They paid off $36,000 in debt and cash flowed graduate school. After graduating with our bachelor’s degrees Jon and I had about $36,000 in debt between us. A lot of life happened over 7 years and our plan changed slightly, but our goal remains to achieve complete freedom from debt. Our 2019 Financial Goal. After years of scrimping and saving and not spending extra money on things, we have achieved the biggest financial goal we have ever set for ourselves in our 19 years of marriage.

Providing college money can help cushion that murky time between high school graduation and fully leaving the nest. College graduates have historically been more financially successful than non-college graduates. Getting them out of the nest and on their own is a big goal of most parents. It is, after all, their money.
