The goal is to have a zero balance on our mortgage by January 2030. True happiness for me personally stems from having a deep relationship with God, family, and nature, spending time with my grandchildren, and always having a little fun. I would send it directly to our mortgage company for our sweet little home.

I have a full grown daughter and not one, but two grandchildren. So for that reason, combined with two active grandchildren, is why I decided to make one resolution this year. This year I intend to get more active and eat as well as I would have my grandchildren eat. Do you have some goals for this year? How about you?

My grown kids are also savers and I have high hopes that the grandchildren will follow their example. Helping the parents teach my grandchildren to save is an ongoing project of mine. To me, money in a CD or savings account has always been for specific shorter term goals. A better road to financial freedom.

Setting goals and reaching them continues to be enriching and satisfying to me. Most days I try to do some preparation with my sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren – to help them learn financial concepts and acquire the ability to wisely manage their money. A fulfilled life, to me, is a life of accomplishment.

We need to make sure our base grows over his lifetime, especially since we hope to leave a legacy to our children and grandchildren. We are all different, with differing financial situations, goals and tolerances, but we are all statistically living longer as well. The need for individualization is being recognized.
