Unfortunately, we did not hit that goal and in part, have made some major changes to our Debt Freedom Plan. And to be honest, we don’t regret it one bit, but things changed rather quickly in 2013 and we found ourselves with a lot of debt, not enough cash flow, and very little set aside for emergencies. Ryan is a high school math teacher and also officiates college basketball (November thru March). Our initial goal was to pay off our 15 year mortgage in 7-8 years by doubling our payment each month. If married, who initiated the debt free goal? Together, we made the goal of paying it off early though.
