Nine years later, the rent for similar homes in our neighborhood is double the cost of our mortgage! Enjoying some outdoor time.

Back when I was engaged and living on my own for the first time (I lived with my parents while in grad school to save on rent), I went to the library a lot and found a copy of the Tightwad Gazette. We rent now and are much happier. People are surprised that we are in our fifties and renting, but it works for us.
