It is my personal mission as the household manager for my family to live well, but I want us to do so on less money. I want my family to enjoy life, but we also have some pretty serious financial goals that we are trying to achieve. Fixed categories are things like your mortgage/rent, insurance premiums, and car payments.

Renting, not having super nice furniture or cars, having mismatched dishes and bedding. We started cooking at home more, a big issue for us was eating out. We used up what we had. Personally, budgeting has allowed us to control of our money, reach financial goals, and start planning for our dream life. I discovered the term, Zero-Based Budget, when my husband and I took Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University home course many years ago. We have been using this system ever since.

I could barely afford my $600 rent payment, which was in a horrible neighborhood. It was like 40 feet away from me and I watched the entire thing.
