A lot of life happened over 7 years and our plan changed slightly, but our goal remains to achieve complete freedom from debt. Updates on our Debt Freedom Plan over the years: Our Original Debt Freedom Plan – written in March 2014. Our 2019 Financial Goal. We can now move on to other financial goals.

Something happens mentally when you WRITE down your goals and plans for execution. We originally (and naively) estimated that we would be done by end of 2016, however, 2016 was not been kind to us, and we moved this goal into 2017. Once Non-Mortgage Debts are paid, cash flow a FAMILY TRIP TO DISNEY. DONE November 2019.

Ryan is a high school math teacher and also officiates college basketball (November thru March). We are both planners and despise wasting money on debt/interest, which is what led us to pay off our mortgage as soon as we could! How much debt did you pay off? What inspired you to get debt free?

In September 2019, my husband and I accomplished our biggest financial goal in our almost 20 years of marriage. It was so big that I cried for two days straight– we paid off six figures in non-mortgage debts. We’re no spring chickens, so in November 2016, we started contributing again to our retirement.
