There is and has been a swirling cloud of controversy surrounding whether or not parents should reward their children for earning good grades in school. To me, it is normal and natural for a parent to want their child to do well – in school and in life. I believe that smart parents find ways to reward behavior they want to encourage.

Using DVDs to Exercise with Kids. We’re building our endurance to get through the whole DVD. My kids like watching the other kids exercise and feel motivated. Use exercise DVDs that involve the kids. We found an acrobatic yoga DVD that is specifically for a child and parent. They’re just having fun.

Getting up in the morning can be so hard for children and parents alike. Use positive wording to remind children that they can do it, whether that’s doing their best on an upcoming test or being kind to their classmates. While pep talks from small children may not always be motivating, they can be very entertaining.

While my parents talked about saving money and only spending what you have, the lessons were more abstract than practical. I’m trying to be a little more hands-on with my son, and talk more openly about money (which is something that didn’t happen much in my parents’ home. Why Aren’t You Doing THIS?

My husband paid his entire way through undergrad and my parents covered a significant portion, so we come from both angles and our strategy is a compromise. We used the snowball method to pay off our non-mortgage debts. However, I will re-focus on my meal planning/grocery shopping routine to try to get this number down.

This should have been done as soon as we became parents back in 2005, but we kept putting it off. We use Medi-Share for our healthcare and our Annual Household Portion is $10k. We’re mentally exhausted by the toll of the medical issues and the financial strain they caused. That’s all we’re going to focus on.
