Did you make 2023 financial goals ? We decided on one big audacious financial goal for the year, and it’s a doozy! The last time we wrote numbers-driven financial goals was 2019. That was the year that we made the goal of paying off the last of our non-mortgage debts and we achieved it by September of that year.

How Our Debt Freedom Plan Prepared Us for the Pandemic. We’d survived the dip in 2007, carried no credit card debt, and we were contributing to our retirement. This new business debt weighed on me. I decided to use Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby Steps as a guide and I wrote our first Debt Freedom Plan. Storm #2: 2013.

I have used the extra money to pay off debt, fund family trips, or build up our Christmas savings. In January 2020, we booked round-trip flights to Paris for the four of us. This trip was a reward for our years of paying off six figures of debt , and we were going to pack a lot into our week. Whew, got all of that!

Hello, 2020. My oldest was in eighth grade and one of my goals for 2020 was to start saving consistently for both daughters’ college education. In January of 2020, I was gung-ho about saving for college, however, I had no idea what was about to happen. My Upromise strategy will help with our goal.

This money gets sent automatically to the 529 accounts we set up for our girls in 2020. I started searching and test drove a pre-owned Highlander in January 2020. But by the end of 2020, I started looking again for a pre-owned vehicle. And we paid off six figures of business debt before, we will pay off this car loan too.
